SHEBOYGAN \u2013 The Sheboygan Film Festival<\/a> is set to screen more than 80 films across downtown venues Oct. 2-5, according to a community announcement.<\/p>\n

The festival, organized by the Belladonna Film Project, will feature a diverse lineup of films, including 42 international entries from 22 countries and Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n

About 20 films come from Wisconsin filmmakers, with seven having direct ties to Sheboygan.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the festival will present 30 films made for children and a dozen produced by filmmakers 18 years old or younger, according to the announcement.<\/p>\n

The festival will kick off with a red carpet event at the Weill Center, featuring a screening of \u201cJohn Candy: I Like Me,\u201d a documentary about the Canadian comedic icon. The film, directed by Colin Hanks and produced by Ryan Reynolds, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.<\/p>\n

The festival will conclude with a 30th-anniversary screening of \u201cDead Man Walking,\u201d starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn, directed by Tim Robbins. This screening supports Robbins\u2019 upcoming appearances<\/a> as part of the Kohler Foundation\u2019s Distinguished Guest Series.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expected the selection process to be difficult, and it was, but the result is a collection of films that we are all very proud to present to attendees,\u201d Beah Travis, founder and executive director of Belladonna Film Project and chair of the SFF Committee, said in the announcement. \u201cI am very excited to present every single block of films on our schedule. This event will be something special that should not be missed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tickets for opening night and festival passes are available on the Sheboygan Film Festival website. The committee is also seeking volunteers for the event.<\/p>\n
