The LaurenHill Academy grad lost his mom Mary Melillo Pacella when he was 15 In her final days, he sought a way to lift her spirits while showing his family\u2019s gratitude to Montreal\u2019s St. Mary\u2019s Hospital, where she was being treated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn&#8217;t really know how to go about it, but I knew I wanted to do some kind of action,\u201d Pacella told Kate Pettigrew from Concordia in an interview. \u201cI wanted to have a fundraising event and have her there, for her to forget about her illness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pacella launched a bowlathon called Strike Out Cancer. Over the past decade his events, which also included galas, have raised over $200,000. He has partnered with Make-A-Wish Canada, granting nine wishes to children affected by critical illness, sending some to Disneyland and others to meet marine animals in the Bahamas. The John Molson School of Business alumnus\u00a0 and present-day marketing and communications officer at Vanier College is applying, with a double major in marketing and management, has also raised over raising $50,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).<\/p>\n<p>Now Pacella is a reality show star. He appeared recently in Game, Set, Matchmaker, the first-ever dating show recorded at US Open Tennis Championships. The eight-part YouTube series was hosted entirely on-site at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was an incredible experience to be featured on the first-ever dating show at the US Open, especially while proudly representing both Montreal and the LGBTQ+ community on a pretty big stage,&#8221; Pacella told me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0THE GOLDEN GIRLS:<\/strong> Following sold out performances and rave reviews 2023 &#8211; 2025, The Golden Girls are back, better than ever with a brand new stage show that\u2019s more exciting than a trip to the Rusty Anchor. Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue will stop by Montreal at Th\u00e9\u00e2tre St-Denis on Sept. 20. The story is by Robert Leleux, author of The Memoirs of a Beautiful Boy and The Living End. His work has also appeared in The New York Times and The New York Times Magazine and his other plays have been produced across the country. The show is directed by Eric Swanson, who was the co-founder and Executive Director of The Detroit Actors\u2019 Theatre Company. The cast includes Ryan Bernier as Dorothy, Vince Kelley as Blanche, Adam Graber as Rose, Christopher Kamm as Sophia, and Tommy Favorite as Stanley\/Burt.
