HGTV\u2019s<\/a> Tiffany Brook<\/a>s<\/a> took to social media recently and opened up about a medical ordeal that almost went awry. <\/p>\n The designer and television personality, 46, announced<\/a> that she underwent a life-saving double organ transplant, where she received a new kidney and pancreas. Following the big announcement, fans and fellow HGTV stars flocked to her post to share unwavering support. <\/p>\n \u201cI am blessed to share that I have been given another chance at life with a very special kidney and pancreas donor,\u201d the Instagram post began. <\/p>\n Brooks, who is known for her shows such as \u201cHGTV Smart Home\u201d and \u201c$50K Three Ways,\u201d highlighted her medical team as well as the anonymous donor who made the surgery possible.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m overcome with emotion for this amazing gift and am incredibly grateful for the gracious transplant team at Northwestern Memorial Hospital,\u201d she continued. <\/p>\n The reality star later revealed that she is now recovering at home with her family.<\/p>\n Brooks has battled Type 1 diabetes since she was a young girl. In a 2013 blog post<\/a>, she detailed how her health struggles were so severe in 2003 during her pregnancy with her son, it led to her kidney failure. <\/p>\n So, after Brooks gave birth, she underwent dialysis for five months before receiving a kidney transplant in 2004. Fast forward to 2005, she received a pancreas transplant, which she expected would end her battle with diabetes.
