Est N8<\/a> has acquired global sales rights to \u201cDear Stranger<\/a>,\u201d a suspense drama from Tokyo production house Roji Films. The agreement covers worldwide territories with the exception of certain Asian markets.<\/p>\n

The Japanese-Taiwanese production stars Nishijima Hidetoshi, known for his role in Oscar-winning \u201cDrive My Car<\/a>,\u201d alongside Taiwanese actor Gwei Lun-Mei<\/a> from Berlin Golden Bear winner \u201cBlack Coal, Thin Ice<\/a>.\u201d Director Mariko Tetsuya helms the project, building on his previous festival success with \u201cDestruction Babies,\u201d which earned him Locarno\u2019s emerging director prize, and \u201cFrom Miyamoto to You,\u201d recipient of the Asia Film<\/a> Critics Association Netpac screenplay award.<\/p>\n

Set in New York, the drama explores what happens when a child\u2019s disappearance threatens to destroy his parents\u2019 marriage. The crisis forces the Japanese father and Taiwanese-American mother to confront concealed truths that push their relationship to breaking point.<\/p>\n
