John Rich has had his share of headlines across the past year or so, and although he is a country music star many of them have less to do with his music than his beliefs and politics.<\/p>\n
And now he is in the headline for his beliefs again, specifically religion, as he has put famed megachurch pastor Joel Osteen in his crosshairs.<\/p>\n
Rich rolled out his issues with Osteen during a recent appearance on the \u201cShawn Ryan Show,\u201d<\/b><\/a> and it mostly comes down to what Rich says is Osteen\u2019s resistance to making his congregation \u201cuncomfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n Specifically, Rich claimed that Osteen avoids talking about the 24th Chapter of the Book of Matthew because it lays out the \u201cend times.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s very uncomfortable for Christians to have to think about,\u201d Rich told Ryan. <\/p>\n \u201cTo say that God would never make his people go through something like that is one of the most ignorant, spiritually ignorant things a person could say.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s number one. Number two is in modern churches even today, they still won\u2019t. There\u2019s a few but not many. They don\u2019t want to preach that.\u201d<\/p>\n He then zeroed back in on Osteen.<\/p>\n \u201cJoel Osteen is never going to preach that,\u201d Rich said. \u201cJoel Osteen is never going to say anything that\u2019s going to make anybody uncomfortable ever on any level ever. He\u2019s never gonna say anything that would prick the heart or conscience of his congregation and then offer an altar call like Billy Graham did when he speaks the truth about what Jesus said.\u201d<\/p>\n Rich wasn\u2019t through.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd what happens if you decide to go the other way, and lay out what hell is, and lay out what heaven is, and lay out what this is, and then offer an altar call in those stadiums of people that will come out to see Billy Graham?\u201d he said. <\/p>\n Rich\u2019s ripping of Osteen took off across the internet.
