Savannah Guthrie<\/a> included a familiar face in her latest Today<\/a> report.<\/p>\n Guthrie\u2019s 11-year-old daughter, Vale, made a rare appearance on the NBC morning show on Monday, September 8. Vale was one of several kids who appeared in a video package about parents choosing to give their children landlines over smartphones.<\/p>\n \u201cHold the phone! As a mom of tweens, a simple, safe, secure way to communicate with friends, sign me up,\u201d Guthrie said in a voiceover, followed by a clip of Vale chatting with a friend about back-to-school outfits over the phone.<\/p>\n \u201cA few of my friends started getting landline numbers. I don\u2019t have a smartphone, so it\u2019d be nice to be able to talk to them all week,\u201d Vale said of communicating with her pals via landline. \u201cWhenever my friends are free, I can call their numbers, and it\u2019s really nice \u2019cause, yeah, I just like it a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n Back in the Today studio, Guthrie shared that she\u2019s \u201ctrying\u201d to get more of Vale\u2019s friends in on the landline trend. \u201cWhen they FaceTime, they\u2019re looking at themselves or the alerts come on,\u201d she stated. \u201cThis just strips it down to the basics.\u201d<\/p>\n Savannah Guthrie’s daughter, Vale, on the September 8, 2025, episode of NBC’s ‘Today.’<\/p>\n NBC<\/p>\n Guthrie\u2019s Today colleagues were also on board with the new parenting trend. \u201cIt also brings a certain amount of politeness to it,\u201d Al Roker<\/a> said of kids using landlines. Carson Daly<\/a> added, \u201cOr just the manners of being silent when someone else is talking. The etiquette of it all.\u201d<\/p>\n Guthrie shares Vale and her 8-year-old son, Charley, with her husband, Michael Feldman. Though she often talks about her kids on Today, Vale and Charley have only made a handful of appearances on the show over the years.<\/p>\n<\/span><\/div>\n
