Taylor Swift\u2019s MTV VMAs absence led to some intense speculation<\/a> but it turns out the singer had a simple reason for staying home.<\/p>\n E! News<\/a> reported that Swift skipped the VMAs because she\u2019s focused on preparing for the release of her new The Life of a Showgirl album<\/a> on Oct. 3. The singer was nominated for Artist of the Year alongside Beyonc\u00e9, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen and The Weeknd.
