Rick Davies<\/a>, co-founder and vocalist of English rock group Supertramp and one of the group\u2019s primary songwriters behind classics like \u201cGoodbye Stranger\u201d and \u201cGive a Little Bit,\u201d has died, the band confirmed in a tribute to the singer posted this weekend. He was 81.<\/p>\n

Davies died on Saturday after a decade-long battle with Multiple Myeloma, the band said, crediting him as creative force in the group.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs co-writer, along with partner Roger Hodgson<\/a>, he was the voice and pianist behind Supertramp\u2019s most iconic songs, leaving an indelible mark on rock music history,\u201d the band said. \u201cHis soulful vocals and unmistakable touch on the Wurlitzer became the heartbeat of the bands\u2019 sound.
