The post The Darkness\u2019 Dan Hawkins Slams VMAs Ozzy Tribute: \u201cAnother Nail in the Coffin of Rock n Roll\u201d<\/a> appeared first on Consequence<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Darkness<\/a> guitarist Dan Hawkins has slammed the VMAs tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne<\/a>, calling the all-star performance \u201cshit\u201d in a social media post.<\/p>\n As we reported, the VMAs paid tribute to the Prince of Darkness with a three-song set that featured Aerosmith\u2019s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Yungblud, and Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt.<\/p>\n The tribute was prefaced by a video introduction from Jack Osbourne and his family, who clearly endorsed the following covers of \u201cCrazy Train\u201d and \u201cChanges\u201d (both sung by Yungblud, the latter in a reprisal of his Back to the Beginning appearance), and Tyler and Perry\u2019s version of the Ozzy solo ballad \u201cMama, I\u2019m Coming Home\u201d (on which they were eventually joined by Yungblud).<\/p>\n Not everyone was thrilled by the performance, including Hawkins, who expressed his ire on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n Over a clip of Yungblud and Tyler duetting \u201cMama, I\u2019m Coming Home,\u201d along with video of pop star Ariana Grande\u2019s overwhelmed reaction to the performance, Hawkins wrote, \u201cWatch a bunch of bellends,\u201d plus the following caption:<\/p>\n \u201cAnother nail in the coffin of rock n roll. Cynical, nauseating and more importantly; shit.
