Stern\u2019s show<\/a>, of course, runs on Howard 100, his SiriusXM Channel.<\/p>\nCohen showed up as fans waited to hear about the status of Stern\u2019s contract with Sirius, having been promised an update by Stern himself.<\/p>\n
Instead, Cohen talked about how he fantasized \u201cfor years\u201d about sitting in Stern\u2019s chair.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know that you\u2019re expecting a big announcement from Howard and this is actually not how things were meant to go,\u201d Cohen said.<\/p>\n
He played into recent speculation about Stern possibly not returning to Sirius.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know how much I\u2019m allowed to say except that he\u2019s not here and I am,\u201d Cohen said.<\/p>\n
He even took calls from supposedly irate Stern listeners, committing to the bit in what was clearly a stunt (Stern himself eventually appears in miniature in a box on the screen in the video below, chuckling along during the opening of the show).<\/p>\n
But no, there was no \u201cAndy 100\u2033 and Cohen had not taken over for Stern at \u201cThe Howard Stern Show\u201d or Howard 100.<\/p>\n
After the first few minutes, Stern, 71, returned with Robin Quivers to address reports that he may retire and leave SiriusXM, or that he was being cut from the Sirius lineup.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything you\u2019ve been reading in the paper about me or about Robin is completely false,\u201d Stern said. \u201cWhat pisses me off is now I can\u2019t leave. I\u2019ve been thinking about retiring. Now I can\u2019t, \u2018cause then they\u2019ll say I got pushed out. So I\u2019ll be back.<\/p>\n
\u201cHere\u2019s the truth,\u201d he continued. \u201cSiriusXM and my team have been talking about how we go forward in the future. They\u2019re approached me, they\u2019ve sat down with me like they normally do and they\u2019re fantastic. We\u2019re been talking. And by the way, I\u2019m absolutely flattered that anybody even cares whether I resign. So, I mean, in a way it was confirmation that I matter, that it was such big news. The only annoying part was having to, like, answer my friends\u2019 texts.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stern share another silver lining to the rumors, speculation and misinformation.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the positive things about all this fake news is that I heard from a lot of companies who want the show,\u201d he said, but made it clear that he\u2019s \u201cvery happy at Sirius.\u201d<\/p>\n
