The Franke Center for the Arts, 214 E. Mansion St., Marshall, is set to host two unique musical events in September.<\/p>\n
Wilson Thicket, a bluegrass band, will perform Sept. 20, followed by Djangophonique, a jazz group, on Sept. 27, according to a community announcement.<\/p>\n
Wilson Thicket is known for its blend of Appalachian string band soul and creative covers. The group features top singers, instrumentalists and songwriters from Michigan, offering a mix of old-school favorites and original songs.<\/p>\n
Djangophonique, winners of a WCYE \u201cJammies\u201d award for Artist of the Year, brings the energy of Django Reinhardt\u2019s jazz manouche to the stage. The Speakeasy Night event encourages attendees to dress in 1920s attire, with vintage cocktails available at the bar. The performance will take place in The Franke\u2019s Downstage Club, which has limited seating.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are going to be a couple of awesome shows that will really showcase the range and variety of performers we host,\u201d Jacob Gates, The Franke Center\u2019s executive director, said in the announcement. \u201cWe couldn\u2019t be more excited.\u201d<\/p>\n
