Sigourney Weaver has some thoughts about FX\u2019s Alien: Earth.<\/p>\n
The Alien and Aliens star has weighed in on the acclaimed FX series<\/a>, which brought the iconic sci-fi franchise to TV <\/a>for the first time.<\/p>\n More from The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n While the new series is heavily inspired by the first two films in the saga, Weaver seemed to most appreciate the ways in which the Noah Hawley series has moved the franchise<\/a> into original territory \u2014 specifically, with the human-synthetic hybrid characters led by Wendy (Sydney Chandler), the film\u2019s commentary on amoral tech company greed and generating new creatures beyond the xenomoprh<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m really enjoying it,\u201d she told People during<\/a> an event promoting her upcoming film, Dust Bunny. \u201cWhat I admire about it is the scope is so much more profound than just an\u00a0Alien\u00a0movie. It\u2019s about our world and what\u2019s dominating the world in 100 years, and to me it\u2019s right on.\u201d<\/p>\n Weaver added she appreciated \u201cthe new [hybrid] creatures based on children\u201d and the new monsters in the show, such as menacing Eye.<\/p>\n \u201cAll these things are so remarkable and they\u2019re just building and building and building,\u201d she said. \u201cThe monsters that he\u2019s also bringing in are just terrifying. It\u2019s like, we don\u2019t have enough problems with the alien, we need 50 more. I can\u2019t believe I\u2019m watching TV.\u201d<\/p>\n Alien: Earth premiered Aug. 12 to critic and fan praise and is currently midway through its eight-episode run. The series chronicles what happens when a spaceship loaded with deadly samples of alien creatures crash lands on Earth and the subsequent race to contain and possess the valuable specimens. The series also stars Alex Lawther<\/a>, Essie Davis, Timothy Olyphant<\/a>, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay and Adarsh Gourav.<\/p>\n Weaver\u2019s Dust Bunny is a horror thriller from Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) which is having its premiere tonight at the Toronto Film Festival. The film follows an 8-year-old girl (Sophie Sloan) who asks her neighbor (Mads Mikkelsen) for help to kill the monster under her bed who ate her family. Dust Bunny lands in theaters Dec. 12.
