On Thursday, Sept. 25, Rolling Stone will team up with Dickel Whisky for another round of the \u201cRolling Stone Writers\u2019 Room.\u201d Moderated by Joseph Hudak, Rolling Stone senior music editor and host of the Nashville Now podcast, this installment will celebrate Dickel\u2019s Class of 25 with performances from the fresh faces that are paving the way for the genre\u2019s future: Kaitlin Butts, Tyler Halverson, and Braxton Keith. Throughout the evening, each artist will share insights into their burgeoning careers in between performances of some of their most prolific songs.<\/p>\n
Red Dirt cowgirl Butts recently broke out with her viral hit \u201cYou Ain\u2019t Gotta Die (To Be Dead to Me),\u201d off her acclaimed 2024 album\u00a0Roadrunner!. With celebrities including reality TV star Bethenny Frankel and country star Lainey Wilson lip-syncing to the song\u2019s lyrics, it instantly became a TikTok trending sound. It was a fitting way to kick off a massive second half of the year for Butts, a former theater kid who is currently opening for Lainey Wilson on her \u201cWhirlwind\u201d world tour. It\u2019s all proof that, as Butts told RS this spring, \u201chard work pays off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keith\u2019s latest ballad \u201cBaby You Do\u201d calls to mind some of country\u2019s greatest love-gone-wrong songs, with Keith\u2019s velvety voice wrapping around smart-yet-smoldering lyrics like \u201cShouldn\u2019t be killin\u2019 my buzz\/ shouldn\u2019t be stuck in my brain makin\u2019 every night hurt like you left yesterday\/ I\u2019m startin\u2019 to think there ain\u2019t no gettin\u2019 over you\/ Cause you shouldn\u2019t still be breakin\u2019 my heart in two but baby you do.\u201d It\u2019s pure country gold for the modern age that cements Keith\u2019s place in the Class of 25. \u201cThere\u2019s never been a better time for country music than right now,\u201d he says. \u201cCountry music is country again.\u201d<\/p>\n And as Butts, Halverson, and Keith take the stage, they\u2019ll join the crowd in sipping on inventive cocktails featuring Dickel Whisky. With a distillery outside of Nashville in beautiful Cascade Hollow, and a destination in the Tennessee whiskey trail, the brand is itself a beautiful blend of modern tradition.
