The bluegrass festival \u201cPickin\u2019 in the Rockies\u201d is returning to the Western Slope, bringing a mix of local and national musicians. The event, taking place Sunday, September 14, at Absolute Prestige Ranch in Loma, will feature a variety of performances, from established names to rising stars.<\/p>\n
Founder Garret Dupper shared a preview of this year\u2019s lineup, emphasizing the strong presence of local talent. \u201cWe have a lot of local artists this year, with three specifically from Colorado,\u201d Dupper said. \u201cOne is from right here in the valley, one is from Montrose, and then a very popular group, the Bar D Wranglers, are coming from Durango.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to the local acts, the festival will also feature groups with significant recognition in the bluegrass and country music scenes like Carson Peters & Iron Mountain. Coming from the Tennessee-North Carolina area and have been featured on the Grand Ole Opry. \u201cCarson Peters & Iron Mountain are a big draw for bluegrass fans,\u201d Dupper noted.<\/p>\n
The headliner for this year\u2019s event is Emily Ann Roberts, an up-and-coming country artist who is gaining traction in the music industry. \u201cEmily Ann Roberts is going to be a major name this year. She\u2019s really making waves in country music,\u201d said Dupper.<\/p>\n
The festival will start at 10 a.m., and music will run from 1 to 8 p.m. Mesa County students can enjoy the event with free admission.<\/p>\n
