Cillian Murphy at the premiere of Small Things Like These last year via Associated Press<\/span><\/p>\n Cillian Murphy<\/span><\/a> is apparently happy to be able to sit out <\/span>Christopher Nolan<\/span><\/a>\u2019s next film and enjoy it as a viewer rather than its main star.<\/span><\/p>\n In 2023, Cillian took the lead in Nolan\u2019s epic Oppenheimer<\/span>, having also worked with the British director on films like Dunkirk, Inception and The Dark Knight.<\/span><\/p>\n However, despite winning an Oscar for his leading role in Oppenheimer, the 28 Days Later actor is noticeably absent from the star-studded cast of Nolan\u2019s upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey, which includes A-listers like Tom Holland<\/span>, Zendaya<\/span>, Charlize Theron<\/span> and Matt Damon<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n Fortunately, though, this doesn\u2019t seem to be something Cillian is losing any sleep over.<\/span><\/p>\n When <\/span>Variety<\/span><\/a> asked earlier this week if he was developing any FOMO (fear of missing out) about not being in Nolan\u2019s 2026 movie release, the typically-deadpan actor admitted: \u201cI have ROMO: \u2018Relief of missing out.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t wait to see it,\u201d he then insisted. \u201cIf any director in the world could tackle The Odyssey it\u2019s going to be Christopher Nolan. I\u2019m so excited to see it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Cillian not appearing in The Odyssey clearly doesn\u2019t mean there\u2019s any bad blood between him and the Inception director, though.<\/span><\/p>\n The Peaky Blinders<\/span> star enthused: \u201cHe\u2019s one in a million, he\u2019s been a huge part of my life as an actor, and I just can\u2019t wait to see what he does with it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n During a later <\/span>appearance on \u00a7The Late Show<\/span><\/a>, Cillian also made it clear to host Stephen Colbert that \u201cROMO\u201d is not a bad thing, but rather a positive comment on enjoying the director as a film fan and not just as an actor.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a real gift to go and see Chris\u2019 movies and watch them without having the terrible burden of looking at my own stupid head,\u201d he quipped.<\/span><\/p>\n Since winning the Oscar in 2024, Cillian has noticeably been taking on roles in smaller independent films like Small Things Like This and Steve.<\/span><\/p>\n He will also soon reprise his role as Tommy Shelby in the upcoming Peaky Blinders film, and recently confirmed an appearance in <\/span>Nia DaCosta\u2019s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple<\/span><\/a>, reprising his role from the very first film in the dystopian film series.<\/span><\/p>\nMORE FILM NEWS:<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
