Female actors have had just as much success as directors as their male counterparts. Jodie Foster<\/strong>, Barbra Streisand<\/strong>, Greta Gerwig<\/strong>, and Elizabeth Banks<\/strong> are just a few of the actresses\/directors out there. Wright currently stars in Prime Video’s The Girlfriend, but also donned the director’s cap for the first three episodes of the series. What was it like for her co-stars to be directed by their fellow actor?<\/p>\n The Girlfriend\u00a0is a limited series on Prime Video that follows Laura (Robin Wright<\/strong>), a woman who seemingly has it all: a glittering career, a loving husband, and her precious son, Daniel (Laurie Davidson<\/strong>). Her perfect life<\/a> begins to unravel when Daniel brings home Cherry (Olivia Cooke<\/strong>), a girlfriend who changes everything. After a tense introduction, Laura becomes convinced Cherry is hiding something. Is she a manipulative social climber, or is Laura just paranoid? The truth is a matter of perspective.<\/p>\n Parade asked Laurie Davidson<\/strong>, who plays Wright’s son, Daniel, in the series, about what it was like working with and being directed by Wright. “It was amazing to work with Robin as director and co-star,” he said. “I’ve grown up watching her work both as a director and an actor, and what struck me was how amazingly she moved between the two. You know, it was a complete seamless transition.
