Rosie O\u2019Donnell<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about the end of her friendship with fellow talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cInstead of deciding to stand next to me and hold my hand, which is what I did to her, she did the opposite,\u201d O\u2019Donnell said during the Sunday, September 7, episode of Mamamia\u2019s \u201cNo Filter\u201d<\/a> podcast. \u201cThat was, like, one of the most painful things that ever happened to me, in show business, in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

O\u2019Donnell and DeGeneres\u2019 falling out<\/a> reportedly occurred after the Finding Nemo<\/em> star made a comment about her dynamic with O\u2019Donnell during a 2004 appearance on Larry King Live<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t really know Rosie that well. I mean, I\u2019ve spoken to her, but we\u2019re not really friends,\u201d she told the host at the time.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Donnell explained on Sunday that she \u201ccouldn\u2019t believe\u201d how DeGeneres publicly downplayed their friendship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have photos of her holding my newborn babies,\u201d she shared. \u201cI knew her for 30 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since that remark, O\u2019Donnell and DeGeneres have had a fractured bond, which the League of Their Own<\/em> actress has candidly discussed over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think in her mind, she thinks I keep rehashing it for pleasure,\u201d O\u2019Donnell quipped. \u201cI don\u2019t rehash it for pleasure. I rehash it because our careers have taken sort of parallel, interwoven paths.\u201d<\/p>\n

O\u2019Donnell previously discussed her falling out with DeGeneres during a 2022 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen<\/em>. DeGeneres heard about O\u2019Donnell\u2019s interview and, according to the comedian, reached out to apologize.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe texted me a few weeks ago checking in, seeing how I\u2019m doing, and I asked her how she\u2019s surviving not being on TV. It\u2019s a big transition,\u201d O\u2019Donnell said to the Hollywood Reporter<\/em> at the time.<\/p>\n

Years later, both O\u2019Donnell and DeGeneres have moved out of the United States<\/a> following the 2024 presidential election, choosing to relocate to Europe. O\u2019Donnell lives in Ireland, while DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi<\/strong>, reside in the English countryside.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, O\u2019Donnell exclusively opened up to Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> about her new life in the Emerald Isle and if she had been in touch with DeGeneres recently.<\/p>\n
