James McAvoy<\/strong><\/a> was reportedly attacked by a stranger while out in a Toronto bar.<\/p>\n According to a report from People<\/a>, published on Tuesday, September 9, McAvoy, 46, was in town for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of his directorial debut, California Schemin\u2019, when he was allegedly \u201csucker-punched\u201d inside Charlotte\u2019s Room bar.<\/p>\n The outlet reported that the alleged attack occurred at \u201cabout 11:55 p.m.\u201d on Monday, September 8, when the Split actor was enjoying \u201ca quiet night\u201d before being \u201ccaught off guard.\u201d<\/p>\n Us Weekly has reached out to McAvoy for comment.<\/p>\n Jacob Elordi Seen in Heated Exchange With 2025 Venice Film Festival Red Carpet Official<\/a><\/p>\n Sources close to McAvoy told the outlet that the actor was in the bar with producers of his new film. \u201cHe [McAvoy] later learned when speaking with the staff, there was a man who drank too much who was getting escorted out,\u201d the insider told the outlet before adding that \u201cJames’ back was to him and the man just punched him.\u201d<\/p>\n The source also alleged that McAvoy \u201claughed off the incident with patrons and the staff\u201d before remaining in the bar.<\/p>\n Prior to the alleged incident, McAvoy attended several Toronto International Film Festival events, one of which alongside wife Lisa Liberati<\/strong>. The pair smiled as they posed for photos together at the Chanel & Variety Women in Film dinner at Soho House Toronto on Saturday, September 6.<\/p>\n One day later, McAvoy attended both a Deadline Studio session and a Hollywood Reporter TIFF Studio session alongside fellow California Schemin\u2019 cast members Seamus McLean Ross<\/strong>, Samuel Bottomley<\/strong>, Lucy Halliday<\/strong> and Rebekah Murrell<\/strong>.
