That said, <em>NCIS<\/em> showrunner Steve D. Binder has revealed a key way that Rocky Carroll\u2019s Leon Vance will change when the procedural returns to the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2025-tv-premiere-date-schedule-upcoming-new-returning-shows\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:2025 TV schedule;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">2025 TV schedule<\/a> that has me concerned about what this means for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Binder opened up about some of the things planned for <em>NCIS<\/em> Season 23\u2019s opening episodes, including how Timothy McGee, Nick Torres, Jessica Knight, Kasie Hines and Jimmy Palmer are all \u201cspecifically told\u201d to make sure that Parker \u201cdoesn\u2019t go anywhere and do anything\u201d when it comes to Carla Marino. While it doesn\u2019t sound like they\u2019ll follow those orders for long, apparently they won\u2019t be able to count on Director Vance for his usual brand of discreet help. In real life, I would very much expect Vance to be by the book since he\u2019s the head of a law enforcement agency, but this is <em>NCIS<\/em> we\u2019re talking about. I\u2019ve gotten so used to Vance providing assistance on the down low, like when McGee was trying to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/articles\/ncis-season-22-finale-delivered-020000940.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:uncover the truth behind Gabriel LaRoche;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">uncover the truth behind Gabriel LaRoche<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">So why the status quo shift? Steven D. Binder\u2019s comments make it sound like this stems from something beyond Vance\u2019s control. Perhaps his superiors have learned how close he is to the other NCIS agents and have demanded that he keeps things more professional. Or maybe there\u2019s something deeper at work here that, for whatever reason, necessitates that Vance keeps his metaphorical distance from the other characters. Whatever the explanation, apparently it will create a divide between Vance and Parker, which I hope can be fixed sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">That\u2019s just one of the many things that we can expect in <em>NCIS<\/em> Season 23, which you can read more about in the TV Insider piece.
