Starter for Ten <\/em>has released a new music video ahead of its return to the stage from this evening.<\/p>\n

Based on David Nicholls\u2019 bestselling novel (which was adapted into a much-loved film in 2006), the musical will return to Bristol Old Vic and plays to 11 October 2025 before transferring to Birmingham Rep from 22 October to 1 November.<\/p>\n

Set in 1985, Starter for Ten <\/em>follows 18-year-old Brian Jackson as he leaves Southend to begin university life in Bristol. With dreams of appearing on University Challenge<\/em> and a passion for Kate Bush, Brian soon learns that academic knowledge doesn\u2019t always prepare you for growing up or falling in love.<\/p>\n

Adapted from Nicholls\u2019 novel and the 2006 film, the musical was nominated for Best Musical Production at the UK Theatre Awards in 2024.<\/p>\n

A new album was recently released. The Bristol Mixtape<\/em>, which is available to stream now, features four tracks from the world premiere 2024 production. These include ensemble numbers \u201cWeightless\u201d and \u201cTime to Quiz\u201d as well as solos \u201cFor the Story\u201d and \u201cLucy\u2019s Turn (feat. Stephen Fry)\u201d.<\/p>\n
