Hilary Duff is making music again.<\/p>\n
Atlantic Records announced on Tuesday<\/a> that it has signed the 37-year-old actress and pop singer, whose last album, Breathe In. Breathe Out.,<\/em> was released in 2015.<\/p>\n According to a press release from the label, Duff\u2019s \u201chighly anticipated return to music\u201d will be chronicled in an upcoming docuseries directed by Sam Wrench, who helmed Taylor Swift\u2019s \u201cEras Tour\u201d documentary, Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s Netflix Christmas special and a Billie Eilish concert film.<\/p>\n The docuseries will follow Duff \u201cas she balances raising a family, recording new music, live show rehearsals, and preparing to perform on stage for the first time in over a decade.\u201d<\/p>\n Duff acknowledged her new record deal in an Instagram post.<\/p>\n \u201cNew music … or something,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n Duff rose to fame as a teenager during the early 2000s as the star of Disney Channel\u2019s Lizzie McGuire,<\/em> before jumping to the big screen in such films as Cheaper by the Dozen, A Cinderella Story <\/em>and The Lizzie McGuire Movie<\/em>. More recently, Duff starred in the TV Land comedy-drama series Younger<\/em> and How I Met Your Father,<\/em> Hulu\u2019s spinoff of the popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother<\/em>.<\/p>\n She has released five albums. Her first, Santa Claus Lane,<\/em> was released in 2002, followed by Metamorphosis<\/em> in 2003, a self-titled LP in 2004 and Dignity<\/em> in 2007, before her last record a decade ago.<\/p>\n Duff\u2019s husband, Matthew Koma, teased her possible return to music earlier this year, sharing a photo of her in the studio<\/a> on Instagram in a Mother\u2019s Day tribute.<\/p>\n \u201cPlease go save millennial pop music,\u201d he concluded his message. \u201cIt needs you now more than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
