Derek Dixon<\/strong><\/a>, who recently sued Tyler Perry<\/strong><\/a> for sexual harassment, claimed that the media mogul threatened his role on The Oval <\/i>if he didn\u2019t endure the alleged behaviors.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat [my character Dale getting shot] meant to me was if I don\u2019t make him happy, I could stay dead on the show,\u201d Dixon, 35, said during a Tuesday, September 9, appearance on ABC News<\/a>. \u201cTo me, that was his way of showing his power over us and our careers. He doesn\u2019t have a problem with killing one of us off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dixon, who starred on BET\u2019s The Oval <\/i>from 2019 to 2024, alleged that he frequently received messages of harassment<\/a> from Perry, 55, during his tenure on the TV show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was extremely anxious. It got to a point where the calls and texts were almost every day,\u201d he alleged. \u201c[I was in] this constant state of, \u2018If I don\u2019t answer, I will lose my job. I\u2019ll be fired or killed off the show.\u2019 It took a huge toll on my anxiety and my depression.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tActor Derek Dixon has found himself in a legal situation with Tyler Perry. In June 2025, Dixon filed a $260 million lawsuit against Perry and accused him of using his influence in the entertainment industry to create a \u201ccoercive, sexually exploitative dynamic\u201d while he was acting on The Oval and Ruthless. Dixon is suing the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Dixon named Perry in a $260 million lawsuit<\/a> in June, accusing the showrunner of quid pro quo sexual harassment, sexual battery, sexual assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and retaliation. Perry vehemently denied the allegations through an attorney. (Us Weekly\u00a0<\/em>has reached out for comment.)<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam,\u201d Perry\u2019s lawyer Matthew Boyd<\/strong> said in a statement to ABC News on Tuesday. \u201cTyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dixon, meanwhile, maintains his version of events and further alleged on Tuesday\u2019s broadcast that Perry once groped him and said to \u201cjust go with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tActor Derek Dixon broke his silence after accusing Tyler Perry of sexual assault and harassment in a $260 million lawsuit last month. \u201cI couldn\u2019t just let him get away with this,\u201d Dixon told The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, July 10, in his first interview since the accusations went public. \u201cEveryone deserves to go to work [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIn that moment, unless someone\u2019s been through something where they have their control of their body taken away, you don\u2019t really understand the kinds of feelings you get in that moment,\u201d Dixon said. \u201cIt was almost, like, every thought came through my head to run, to fight [or] to freeze. I didn\u2019t know what to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dixon claimed that Perry later apologized for his actions and promised to help produce Dixon\u2019s self-written TV script.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo me, it\u2019s just so insulting,\u201d Dixon claimed, adding that he continually reiterated how he wanted to de-escalate the situation. \u201c[My pilot] hasn\u2019t gone anywhere. He still owns the rights to it, so I can\u2019t go anywhere [else] and sell it.\u201d<\/p>\n
