Rosie O\u2019Donnell<\/strong> and Ellen DeGeneres<\/strong> haven\u2019t been able to mend their broken friendship.<\/p>\n O\u2019Donnell, 63,<\/a> appeared on the Sunday, September 7, episode of the No Filter<\/em> podcast<\/a> hosted by Kate Langbroek<\/strong> and recalled how, when DeGeneres, 67, appeared on Larry King Live<\/em> in 2004, she made a bold statement that ended their long-standing friendship.<\/p>\n \u201cEllen said, \u2018I don\u2019t know Rosie. We\u2019re not friends,’\u201d O\u2019Donnell recalled. \u201cThat was, like, one of the most painful things that ever happened to me, in show business, in my life. I couldn\u2019t believe it.\u201d<\/p>\n Langbroek asked why DeGeneres would say that, and O\u2019Donnell responded that she didn\u2019t know.<\/p>\n \u201cI have photos of her holding my newborn babies. I knew her for 30 years,\u201d O\u2019Donnell revealed. \u201cIt was so upsetting to me that I had t-shirts made [that said] \u2018I don\u2019t know Rosie, we\u2019re not friends.\u2019 And I gave them out to my staff because it was very painful.\u201d<\/p>\n The Now and Then<\/em> actress said she and DeGeneres have \u201cnever sort of gotten over it,\u201d noting during the podcast that the comedian never apologized to her and has even asked why she\u2019s \u201cstill talking about this.\u201d (However, in 2023, O\u2019Donnell told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> that DeGeneres had apologized to her via text.)<\/p>\n \u201cI think in her mind, she thinks I keep rehashing it for pleasure. I don\u2019t rehash it for pleasure,\u201d O\u2019Donnell reflected. \u201cI rehash it because our careers have taken sort of parallel, interwoven paths.\u201d<\/p>\n O\u2019Donnell also added that the disintegration of their friendship was \u201cprofound\u201d for her and said they were not \u201cemotionally similar\u201d people.<\/p>\n Both women have been incredibly successful day talk show hosts, with O\u2019Donnell hosting The Rosie O\u2019Donnell Show<\/em> from 1996 to 2002 and DeGeneres hosting The Ellen DeGeneres Show<\/em><\/a> from 2003 to 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/staging.nationalenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/upiphotos093776-scaled.jpg\")
