Whoopi Goldberg<\/strong> isn\u2019t planning on leaving The View<\/em> anytime soon.<\/p>\n In a new interview, the longtime co-host of the daytime talk show made it clear she has no intentions of retiring \u2014 and her reasoning was refreshingly candid.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve gotta keep paying those bills, baby!\u201d Goldberg, 69, told Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> on September 9.<\/p>\n When asked if she\u2019s considered \u201cslowing down,\u201d Goldberg admitted she has, but quickly added, \u201cWho can afford to do that?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf you don\u2019t marry well, you\u2019ve got to keep working,\u201d the EGOT winner quipped.<\/p>\n When the interviewer pointed out that her decades-long career and accolades might suggest she\u2019s set for retirement, Goldberg pushed back: \u201cNo, not by now. Not yet.\u201d<\/p>\n Goldberg joined The View<\/em> in 2007, replacing Rosie O\u2019Donnell<\/strong> as co-host and moderator. The daytime staple is now in its 29th season, which premiered on Monday, September 8.<\/p>\n Goldberg has been married and divorced three times \u2013 first to Alvin Martin<\/strong>, with whom she shares her daughter Alexandrea<\/strong>, 52, then to cinematographer David Claessen<\/strong>, and later to Lyle Trachtenberg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Goldberg discussed the topic of marriage last May in an episode of Who\u2019s Talking to Chris Wallace?<\/em> She told\u00a0 former celebrity.land anchor Chris Wallace<\/strong> that she no longer has energy for that type of committed relationship.<\/p>\n \u201cYou know, when you\u2019re married to somebody, you have to be invested in how they\u2019re feeling,\u201d the Sister Act<\/em> star said, per People<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI am not,\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019m invested in my kid. I\u2019m invested in her kids. I\u2019m invested in my son in law. I\u2019m invested in my friends.
