Get ready to love a new Ghost and Tommy.\u00a0The long-awaited prequel series about Power<\/a>\u2018s drug-dealing best friends is finally happening. In July, STARZ announced Power: Origins<\/a>, which will debut with a supersized first season. On September 10, the network revealed the actors who have been cast to play the younger versions of Omari Hardwick<\/a> and Joseph Sikora<\/a>\u2018s characters.<\/p>\n Since Power\u2019s original run, fans have wanted answers about Ghost and Tommy\u2019s backstories. Well, Power: Origins is going to deliver with a bang. TV Insider is breaking down the latest updates about the Power prequel.<\/p>\n Power: Origins does not have a release date yet. STARZ has greenlit Power: Origins for an 18-episode first season. The network hasn\u2019t announced when production will begin. The first season will most likely premiere in 2026.<\/p>\n Spence Moore<\/a> will play a young James \u201cGhost\u201d St. Patrick, while Charlie Mann will play young Tommy Egan in Power: Origins. Moore is best known for his roles as Chris Jackson in All American<\/a> and Jacob Nash in Brilliant Minds<\/a>. Mann notably starred in the 2024 horror film The Watchers<\/a>.<\/p>\n The roles were originated by Hardwick and Sikora\u00a0in Power. Younger versions of the characters, played by William Chris Sumpter<\/a> and Ethan Cutkosky<\/a>, were featured in a brief Season 6 flashback.<\/p>\n During a recent N3on stream<\/a>, Cutkosky was still interested in playing young Tommy. \u201cI would love to. Blow 50 Cent<\/a> [a Power producer] up and try to get me on that,\u201d the Shameless actor said.<\/p>\n The new Power spinoff will focus on young Ghost and Tommy. At the end of the show\u2019s run, Ghost was killed by his own son, Tariq. Tommy faked his death and moved to Chicago.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m excited to continue to explore the origin stories of the Power Universe\u2019s founding fathers,\u201d said Sascha Penn<\/a>, showrunner, writer, and executive producer. \u201cGhost and Tommy\u2019s backstories have fueled years of constant fascination and speculation among fans, and I\u2019m thrilled to be able to answer some long-held questions and share new layers of the story that viewers won\u2019t see coming.\u201d<\/p>\n Kathryn Busby, the President of Original Programming for STARZ, said: \u201cOur fans have been asking for Ghost and Tommy\u2019s origin story since we first met them in Power \u2014 and with the launch of this series, we\u2019re delivering in a big way. This marks an electrifying new chapter in the franchise\u2019s evolution as we dive deep into the legacy of these iconic characters and the explosive moments that shaped their path.\u201d<\/p>\n The only known cast member is Power Book III: Raising Kanan<\/a> star Mekai Curtis<\/a>, who will reprise his role as young Kanan Stark, played by 50 Cent in the original series. Curtis commented on the Instagram announcement about Moore and Mann\u2019s casting, \u201cLace \u2019em up\u2026 TIGHT.\u201d<\/p>\n Depending on the exact timeline of Power: Origins, we\u2019ll likely be introduced to young Angela, who was played by Camila Perez<\/a> in the Season 6 flashback. The series is expected to feature young Tasha and young LaKeisha, who were played by Naturi Naughton<\/a> and La La Anthony<\/a> on Power.<\/p>\n Power: Origins will be the fourth Power spinoff in the universe. The Tariq-led Power Book II: Ghost<\/a>\u00a0ran for four seasons. Power Book III: Raising Kanan has already filmed its fifth and final season.
