That\u2019s what my acting had been influenced by.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"GXTL63THOZFX7FGH4MGMXVPYIU\">When he auditioned for the part, he thought it went well \u2014 initially. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"GWDHXMC7HBETNKE26LRMODWHQA\">\u201cI mean, I killed in the room. I was getting the laughs, and I\u2019m 13, I\u2019m killing in the room. And I finished my audition, and everybody was smiling, except Mr. Cosby, and he looked at me, and he said, \u2018Would you really talk to your father like that?\u2019 And I said, \u2018No.\u2019 He said, \u2018Well, I don\u2019t want to see that on this show.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4BPNZR2F3RET7BHJAA2RE7IIZE\">Warner also remembered how Cosby fought with executives over the tone of the show because he wanted the sitcom to remain authentic to his vision. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"DXZ2DJ643VA3ZLKGLJ2VVFFYJA\">\u201cMr. Cosby made certain that everyone was acutely aware \u2018The Cosby Show<i>\u2019<\/i> was his brainchild,&#8221; Warner explained. \u201cBut then you have these other creatives, you know, there\u2019s a network producer, writers, you know, studio coming in, trying to tell him how to do his show, and every step of the way, Mr. Cosby had to stop them and remind them that\u2019s not the show that we\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"6AZGLDPWKRCJ7NACZY6UJ46QDI\">This was a fight Cosby constantly found himself ingratiated in but won every time. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"UQZF7WYHRBHALIIQT4ISJOBNTU\">\u201cI watched him do that from year one to year eight,\u201d he added. \u201cThat battle never, never stopped, until the show stopped.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5AP3C4Z2DZAA3OG5J5W6ADOLJE\">But to Warner, the constant battle was well worth the warfare because the impact the show had on fans was indescribable. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TGWPJCB4KJA2PPQKFAS5GQQPHU\">\u201cI was getting tens of thousands of letters from people who were saying, \u2018Thank you. Thank you for the show.
