THOMASVILLE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Thomasville City Council approved to amend a previous alcoholic beverage ordinance, allowing for the consumption of alcoholic beverages within Thomasville\u2019s entertainment district. <\/p>\n
The ordinance takes effect Wednesday, Oct. 1 and allows alcoholic consumption in the district from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. <\/p>\n

Businesses in the entertainment district can soon sell alcohol to those dining outside and customers can also take their drinks outside the store. <\/p>\n
Beverages must be purchased from a licensed location within the entertainment district, be served in a clear plastic cup, no larger than 16 ounces, and have an identifying logo from the location the drink was purchased.<\/p>\n
Co-owner of Tvelo Brewing Co. Maurice Jackson said it\u2019s been difficult saying no to customers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were some restrictions and one of them being alcohol leaving the property and you just hate to tell the customer no of any kind,\u201d the local said.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are a lot of shops around here that we call friends that sell clothing apparel, and are wishing more foot traffic would come about, so I think even those in this area that again don\u2019t sell alcoholic beverages will benefit because there\u2019s just more people roaming around downtown and looking for a place to spend some dollars,\u201d Jackson said.<\/p>\n However, alcoholic consumption is not allowed on properties like a church, daycare, school or in a private parking lot within the district.<\/p>\n Tune in to Eyewitness News at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. for the full story.
