Hilary Duff is making a surprise return to music \u2014 and her fans couldn’t be happier.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old singer and actor, who hasn’t released an album of new songs since 2015’s \u201cBreathe In. Breathe Out.,\u201d has signed a deal with Atlantic Records, according to a Sept. 9 press release.<\/p>\n

The former \u201cLizzie McGuire\u201d<\/a> and \u201cYounger\u201d star is also collaborating with Sam Wrench, the filmmaker behind \u201cTaylor Swift: The Eras Tour\u201d and \u201cA Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter,\u201d on an “intimate docuseries” that chronicles her return to music and her personal journey, the release said.<\/p>\n

The docuseries will embrace “the ups, downs, and everything in between” and show Duff “as she balances raising a family, recording new music, live show rehearsals, and preparing to perform on stage for the first time in over a decade.”<\/p>\n

Duff also shared the news, albeit with fewer details, the same day on Instagram.<\/p>\n

“New music \u2026 or something,” she captioned a trio of photos on Instagram<\/a>. One pic showed Duff wearing jeans and a T-shirt as she lounged in a chair next to a drum. Another showed her embracing her musician husband, Matthew Koma, as he played a keyboard in what looked to be a recording studio. <\/p>\n

Another pic showed Duff’s hands holding a smartphone next to a pair of headphones.<\/p>\n

Koma, who collaborated with Duff on her last studio album, shared the same photos in his Instagram stories<\/a> along with the image of a Billboard news article about Duff’s new projects, over which he wrote, “Let’s. F——. Go.”<\/p>\n

Fans hopped into the comments of Duff’s post to express their excitement over the news.<\/p>\n

“This is what dreams are made of,” several wrote in honor of Duff’s 2003 song “What Dreams Are Made Of.”<\/p>\n

“So happy to hear you’re coming out with music again soon! I feel like doing cartwheels,” wrote another.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019M CRYING TEARS OF JOY,” added a third.<\/p>\n

Duff shot to stardom in 2001 as the star of the Disney Channel tween sitcom “Lizzie McGuire,” which led to 2003’s “The Lizzie McGuire Movie.”<\/p>\n

She went on to star in several more TV shows and movies, including the long-running “Younger” and Hulu\u2019s “How I Met Your Mother” spinoff “How I Met Your Father.”<\/p>\n

Along the way, Duff released five studio albums, including 2003’s “Metamorphosis,” which included the Billboard Hot 100 hits \u201cSo Yesterday” and \u201cCome Clean.”<\/p>\n

She scored additional hits later with the singles \u201cWake Up\u201d and \u201cWith Love.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
