NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WHNT<\/a>) \u2013 The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum<\/a> will debut a new exhibition on Nov. 14.<\/p>\n \u2018Muscle Shoals: Low Rhythm Rising\u2019, a three-year exhibition, will explore how the small Alabama town became a recording powerhouse in the 1960s and 1970s, shaping the sound of American popular music.<\/p>\n Documentary honors musician and actor Rick Nelson\u2019s final performance in Guntersville <\/a><\/p>\n The 5,000-square-foot exhibit highlights the studios, musicians, and groundbreaking collaborations that defined the Muscle Shoals sound, a blend of R&B, country, and soul that drew artists from around the world. It also examines the cultural significance of musicians working together during an era of segregation.<\/p>\n \u201cAmerican music crossed lines in Muscle Shoals that weren\u2019t supposed to be breached,\u201d said Kyle Young, CEO of the museum. \u201cThis exhibit takes an expansive look at a sound that forever changed popular music.\u201d<\/p>\n The exhibit will showcase rare instruments, stage wear, and memorabilia from artists who recorded in Muscle Shoals, including:<\/p>\n Aretha Franklin\u2019s piano, used during her career-defining 1967 session at FAME Studio.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Duane Allman\u2019s Fender Stratocaster, played while he was a session musician in the late \u201960s.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Wilson Pickett\u2019s jumpsuit, worn on the cover of his 1971 greatest hits album.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Mac Davis\u2019s handwritten lyrics to his 1972 No. 1 hit \u201cBaby Don\u2019t Get Hooked on Me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Pops Staples\u2019 Fender Telecaster, used in The Last Waltz concert film.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Additional items include instruments from Rick Hall, Roger Hawkins, Mac McAnally, and Patterson Hood, along with outfits worn by Candi Staton and Dan Penn.<\/p>\n \ud83c\udfb5 Sound Bites is Your Local Entertainment Resource!
