There\u2019s a new Bachelorette in town \u2014 and we\u2019ve met her before.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Taylor Frankie Paul, \u201cThe Secret Lives of Mormon Wives\u201d<\/a> star, will be the lead on Season 22 of \u201cThe Bachelor<\/a>ette.\u201d She broke the news herself Wednesday on the \u201cCall Her Daddy\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

ABC confirmed the news in a statement that touted Paul for \u201cigniting \u2018MomTok\u2019 and going viral for pulling back the curtain on Salt Lake\u2019s soft-swinging scene.\u201d Paul will return to \u201cThe Secret Lives of Mormon Wives\u201d for Season 3 in November, and the next season of \u201cThe Bachelorette\u201d will premiere in 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cTo be honest, surreal,\u201d Paul said when asked about the news by \u201cCall Her Daddy\u201d host Alex Cooper. \u201cIt has not hit me right now in this moment. \u2026 I\u2019m like, how is this happening? That\u2019s my answer.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Notably, Paul, 31, has not appeared in the \u201cBachelor\u201d franchise before, a change from the usual practice of casting contestants<\/a> from previous seasons of \u201cThe Bachelor\u201d and \u201cThe Bachelorette\u201d as leads. But the pick offers some synergy, as \u201cBachelorette\u201d broadcaster ABC and \u201cMormon Wives\u201d streamer Hulu are both owned by Disney. (Two of her current castmates are headed to \u201cDancing With the Stars,\u201d<\/a> also on ABC.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Asked by Cooper how the casting choice came about, Paul explained that she\u2019d made a TikTok video on a lark a few years ago, when her relationship \u201cwasn\u2019t working out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI made a funny video,\u201d she said, with the message, \u201cI\u2019m single.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cIt was like a Lindsay Lohan TikTok,\u201d she said, but it somehow caught people\u2019s attention. \u201cI didn\u2019t believe it until I got the invitation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Still, Paul said, she was not immediately sure it would be manageable.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The mother-of-three said she wondered: \u201cHow do I make this work? I\u2019m a co-parent, I have two baby daddies. \u2026 Can I travel that long? Can I be gone that long?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

And then she realized she could do it: \u201cI was just like, I will make it work. If I want to, I can … I can ask for help.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Paul became known as an influencer in the #MomTok community,<\/a> a group of women from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sharing their lives on TikTok. She made news when she announced, in 2022, that she had \u201cstepped out\u201d of an agreement with her husband in terms of relationships with other couples involving \u201csoft-swinging\u201d (a form of partner-swapping,) and they were getting divorced.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The following year, Paul was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and other offenses, including domestic violence in the presence of a child, during a dispute with a boyfriend. She pleaded guilty in August 2023 to a misdemeanor charge of aggravated assault; the other charges were dismissed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Paul told Cooper she didn\u2019t know what it would be like dating several people at a time. She said she had asked some men, \u201cHow do people do it? … I\u2019ve had flings, but this is different.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Asked what her biggest adjustment would be, she replied: \u201cAll of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
