Australian country star James Johnston has dropped his latest single, \u201cI Oughta Know Better\u201d, a spirited nod to \u201990s-era Alan Jackson classics with a modern twist.<\/p>\n
The track is the newest taste of his second album Where You\u2019ll Find Me<\/em><\/a>, out October 24th via Warner Music Australia.<\/p>\n \u201cThis song is the mix between my old self and my new self,\u201d Johnston said of the new track. \u201cThe truth is, being a father to two boys means less wild nights out with mates, but every once in a while, be it with old friends or when my wife and I sit on the deck with a bottle of wine, it often starts with \u2018let\u2019s just have one\u2019 and often ends with a headache in the morning. I wanted to make a drinking song that wasn\u2019t necessarily happening at a club. If you\u2019re passed your wild clubbing years but still don\u2019t mind getting loose every once in a while, you\u2019ll resonate with this song.\u201d<\/p>\n The track signals a broader shift for Johnston as he steps into what he calls his \u201cinternational era,\u201d marrying glossy, festival-ready hooks with a raw, emotional centre.
