STEVENS POINT \u2212 Jazz Coterie is bringing Los Angeles-based singer and composer Michael Mayo to Wisconsin for a concert in Stevens Point.<\/p>\n
Mayo, known for his blend of jazz, neo-soul and R&B, will perform at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at Great Northern Distilling, 1011 Second St., according to an announcement.<\/p>\n
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at https:\/\/jazzcoterie.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n Mayo, who was voted the No. 1 Rising Star Male Vocalist by the 2025 DownBeat International Critics Poll, has performed with artists such as Kneebody, Jacob Collier, Christian Sands, Josh Groban, Nate Smith and Herbie Hancock.<\/p>\n Michael Mayo, a DownBeat Rising Star, brings his jazz and R&B fusion to perform in Stevens Point.<\/p>\n He released his debut studio album, “Bones,” in 2021, followed by his sophomore album, “Fly,” in 2024 on Mack Avenue Records.<\/p>\n Mayo was born and raised in Los Angeles by his father, Scott Mayo, a saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, and his mother, Valerie Pinkston, a singer. His parents performed with musicians such as Beyonc\u00e9, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Luther Vandross and Whitney Houston.<\/p>\n He received a bachelor’s degree in jazz vocal performance from the New England Conservatory of Music.
