Julia Fox<\/strong><\/a> is taking a very intentional approach to parenting her 4-year-old son, Valentino.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think you just need to raise your boys the same way you raise your girls,\u201d Fox, 35, told Us Weekly<\/em> exclusively of her parenting philosophy in her cover story<\/a>, on newsstands now. \u201cI feel like we put so much pressure on our girls, and we fill their heads with so much more cautionary tales. \u2026 You need to be teaching them too, that they can grow up and their fists can be weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Him<\/em> actress, who welcomed her son in 2021 with ex-husband Peter Artemiev<\/strong>, recalled a recent teaching moment with Valentino, in which they dissected gender norms while watching a movie together.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Valentino, I don\u2019t let any little thing go unchecked,\u201d she told Us<\/em>. \u201cI remember we were watching a movie, and then this guy comes out wearing a wedding dress. And he was like, \u2018Mommy, why is he wearing a dress?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJulia Fox has zero qualms about her son being a nepo baby \u2013 in fact, she wants him to be proud of being born into the industry. \u201cI feel like by [hiding your kids] it\u2019s almost like a disservice,\u201d she told Variety in a new profile published Monday, April 29. \u201cIt\u2019s like I have this [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fox and Valentino live with the Uncut Gems<\/em> actress\u2019 best friend Richie Shazam<\/strong> and his partner, Ben Draghi<\/strong>, in a New York City brownstone \u2014 and the actress used their \u201cchosen family\u201d as an example for her son.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018You know, Uncle Ben wears dresses, so if I wore a suit, would that be weird?\u2019\u201d Fox recalled telling Valentino. \u201cI saw the wheels turning, and it\u2019s like, \u2018Why is it only weird when boys wear girls clothes, but not weird when girls wear boys\u2019 clothes?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite wondering \u201cdo I really have to do this?\u201d in moments like these, as a vocal feminist and critic of the patriarchy, Fox knows she has to be proactive in raising a young man.<\/p>\n

\u201cGod forbid he goes out into the world and becomes the exact epitome of everything I hate because I was just like, \u2018It\u2019ll be fine,\u2019\u201d she told Us<\/em>. \u201cThat\u2019s really what it is all about: communicating and having those uncomfortable conversations, trying to get them to understand in a way that a 4-year-old can.\u201d<\/p>\n
