[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds<\/a><\/em> Season 3 finale \u201cNew Life and New Civilizations.\u201d]<\/strong><\/p>\n The third season of\u00a0Star Trek: Strange New Worlds<\/em> certainly suggests that the Doctor \u2014 yes, the time-traveling Time Lord from the British sci-fi series \u2014 is part of its world, with glimpses of his TARDIS\u00a0and<\/em> seemingly a mention of the character<\/a>.<\/p>\n But what exactly was going on there? TV Insider turned to\u00a0Strange New Worlds<\/em> executive producers Akiva Goldsman<\/a> and Henry Alonso Myers<\/a> while breaking down the Season 3 finale<\/a> and getting teases about what\u2019s still to come (the show\u2019s been renewed for two more seasons).<\/p>\n First, the TARDIS shows up in Season 3 Episode 6. Then, in the finale, Pelia (Carol Kane<\/a>), who, as a Lanthanite, has a very long life-span, mentioned she knows a time-traveling doctor.<\/p>\n \u201cWe cannot confirm or deny that those are\u00a0Doctor Who<\/em><\/a> references,\u201d Goldsman said, with Myers joking, \u201cDoctor who? I\u2019m confused.\u201d<\/p>\n But then Goldsman did get serious. \u201cWe\u2019ve always dreamed of a crossover. We\u2019ve even talked about a crossover and there are too many \u2014 And I think if it were up to Russell [T. Davies, who revived the series in 2005 and served as head writer until 2010 then returned in 2023] and us, it would\u2019ve been a real thing,\u201d he admitted. \u201cI think there are too many corporations involved, but there are love letters that go back and forth.\u201d (For example, in Ncuti Gatwa<\/a>\u2018s first full season as the Doctor, he did mention the Enterprise<\/em>.)<\/p>\n As for what that crossover could have looked like and which Doctor it would\u2019ve included \u2014 Gatwa\u2019s was the latest, the Fifteenth, with many<\/em> questions about who exactly Billie Piper<\/a> is playing after the latest regeneration<\/a> \u2014 the producers couldn\u2019t share any details.<\/p>\n \u201cI think unfortunately we would have to file that under, that\u2019s a beautiful dream, and just try to imagine,\u201d Myers said with a laugh. \u201cBecause I think everyone is a fan of Star Trek<\/em> and who is a fan of Doctor Who<\/em> would probably bring their own feelings about it. We both love both shows. It\u2019s as simple as that.\u201d<\/p>\n
