The upcoming season of American Idol will feature a shakeup.<\/p>\n
Showrunner and EP Megan Michaels Wolflick <\/strong>revealed that season 24 will bring \u201csome changes\u201d in an interview with TV Insider<\/a> published Thursday, September 11.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t really get into any details, but we do have some big format changes coming for sure,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cThere are going to be some surprises around every turn for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan<\/strong> and Carrie Underwood<\/strong> will return to the judging panel<\/a>. Wolflick shared her thoughts on Underwood, 42 \u2014 who is the newest judge<\/a> \u2014 noting that she \u201chas brought something special and relatable\u201d to the show.<\/p>\n zz\/XNY\/starmaxinc.com\/Newscom\/The Mega Agency<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI think she is so tapped into the experience,\u201d Wolflick remarked. \u201cShe got her feet wet last year, but what I do love about her is she is invested.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe is in it and cares so much about all the finalists who come through the door,\u201d she continued. \u201cShe is only going to get better. She works her butt off on this show. I\u2019m so proud.\u201d<\/p>\n Wolflick also shared that she worked with the \u201cBefore He Cheats\u201d hitmaker back in 2005 when the songstress was a contestant \u2014 and winner \u2014 on season 4 of the hit singing competition.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s awesome because I was on the show when she was. We\u2019re around the same age,\u201d Wolflick explained. \u201cWhen we were on the show together back then, we were all very close as producers.
