The case isn\u2019t closed yet. Another season of Presumed Innocent<\/em><\/a> is on the way at Apple TV+<\/a>, and details about the second round of the legal drama are starting to come through.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what we know so far about Presumed Innocent<\/em> Season 2.<\/p>\n

Who will star in Presumed Innocent<\/em> Season 2?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

While a full cast list has not yet been announced for Presumed Innocent<\/em>\u2018s second season, Deadline<\/a> first reported\u00a0that Rachel Brosnahan will take over as lead, starring in and executive producing in the second season.<\/p>\n

Since it appears this is now becoming an anthology series, based on the source material for Season 2, it\u2019s not surprising that the show will have a new lead.<\/p>\n

Also cast in the new season, per Variety<\/a>, is Matthew Rhys.<\/p>\n

Previously, Season 1 star Peter Sarsgaard<\/a> told IndieWire<\/a> he wasn\u2019t coming back. \u201cI\u2019m not really that interested in sequels. I think I\u2019ve only ever done one season of anything\u2026 I think I\u2019m a one-season person.\u201d Sarsgaard portrayed Tommy Molto, the prosecutor who went after Rusty Sabich in the murder trial at the center of Season 1.\u00a0Meanwhile, Jake Gyllenhaal<\/a>, who portrayed Rusty Sabich in Season 1, will return as executive producer alongside the show\u2019s creator David E. Kelley<\/a>, executive producer J.J. Abrams<\/a>, and author and co-executive producer Scott Turow.<\/p>\n

The main cast for Season 1 also included Ruth Negga<\/a> as Barbara Sabich, Bill Camp<\/a> as Raymond Horgan, O-T Fagbenle<\/a> as Nico Della Guardia, Chase Infiniti as Jaden Sabich, Nana Mensah as Detective Alana Rodriguez, Renate Reinsve<\/a> as Carolyn Polhemus, Kingston Rumi Southwick as Kyle Sabich, and Elizabeth Marvel<\/a> as Lorraine Horgan.<\/p>\n

What will happen in Presumed Innocent<\/em> Season 2?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Presumed Innocent<\/em>\u2018s first season was based on the book of the same name by Scott Turow, and while there are two others in the author\u2019s collection: Innocent<\/em> and Presumed Guilty<\/em><\/a>, the second season reportedly will be based upon another book.<\/p>\n

The second season is based on the upcoming legal thriller called Dissection of a Murder<\/em> by Jo Murray<\/a>, which is set to release in the spring of 2026. It centers on a character named Leila Reynolds who is trying her first murder case as the choice attorney for the defense, and her own husband is the prosecutor. The description reads, \u201cWhen Leila Reynolds (Brosnahan) is handed her first murder case, she\u2019s shocked at how high-profile it is: the murder of a well-respected, well-known judge. This shouldn\u2019t be the kind of case she\u2019s leading; it\u2019s way beyond her expertise. But the defendant, Jack Millman, is clear. He wants her, and only her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Executive producer J.J. Abrams told Deadline<\/a>, \u201cWe discussed the possibility of a second season during production, but then Apple brought it up to us in post. Nothing was ever shot to set up a second season. Our focus was telling the story of Carolyn\u2019s murder and Rusty\u2019s trial, and wrapping that up at the end of the first season\u2026 It\u2019s too early to talk about what might happen in Season 2, but we\u2019re very excited about the possibilities we are discussing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Where did Presumed Innocent<\/em> Season 1 leave off?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Season 1 finale concluded with Rusty Sabich being found not guilty in the murder of Carolyn Polhemus \u2014 and, soon after, her real killer was revealed to be his daughter, Jaden. Rusty told her to never speak of the incident again.<\/p>\n

When will\u00a0Presumed Innocent<\/em> Season 2 premiere?<\/h2>\n

Apple TV+ has not yet set a release date for Season 2, but we will update this post when that information is available.<\/p>\n
