Jennifer Lopez<\/strong> recently recalled how she faced some rejection early on in her acting career.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, September 10, the pop star, 56, attended a Q&A for her upcoming movie Kiss of the Spider Woman<\/em>, and revealed that she had tried out for the 1996 musical Evita<\/em> but didn\u2019t book the role, according to Variety<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to audition for Evita<\/em>\u00a0for [director] Alan Parker<\/strong>,\u201d the \u201cJenny From the Block\u201d hitmaker recalled. \u201cI had been practicing for weeks and I sing my heart out and he goes, \u2018You\u2019re amazing. You know Madonna<\/strong> has the part, right?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018OK, bye-bye,’\u201d Lopez laughed. \u201cNice to meet you!\u201d<\/p>\n

Madonna, 67, famously starred as Eva Per\u00f3n in the film, which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 1997 Oscars.<\/p>\n

However, everything worked out in the end<\/a> for the Selena<\/em> actress, who was thrilled to sign on for Kiss of the Spider Woman.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIt couldn\u2019t have been a better one for me, I don\u2019t think,\u201d Lopez explained. \u201cI was really really glad to be able to do it, step into Chita Rivera\u2019s<\/strong> shoes and S\u00f4nia Braga<\/strong>, and everybody who kind of did this role before me.\u201d<\/p>\n
