Deezer has\u00a0updated its public statistic for GenAI music uploads to its platform<\/a>. The streaming service says that it is now getting more than 30,000 \u201cfully AI-generated tracks\u201d every day \u2013\u00a028% of all its uploads. This is a rapid rise:\u00a0it was 10% in January<\/a>\u00a0and then\u00a018% in April<\/a>. These figures are based on Deezer\u2019s own AI-detection tool. <\/p>\n\n\n\n CEO Alexis Lanternier re-emphasised the company\u2019s policies in dealing with this content. \u201cWe remove fully AI-generated content from algorithmic recommendations and we don\u2019t include it in editorial playlists,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n There\u2019s one important thing to remember though: there may be a flood of fully AI-generated music being uploaded to Deezer (and by implication, its larger rivals too), but that doesn\u2019t mean many people are listening to it. Indeed, in its announcement this morning Deezer reiterated that GenAI songs only account for 0.5% of its total streams \u2013\u00a0up to 70% of which are \u2018fraudulent\u2019 \u2013\u00a0essentially bots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n So, while this music is now 28% of uploads, actual humans listening to it only account for 0.15% of Deezer\u2019s overall streams. That\u2019s partly a reflection of the company\u2019s decision to shut it out of recommendations and playlists, of course.<\/p>\n
