Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee in the New York City mayoral race, has been accused of supporting a “pro-terrorist” rap group known as The Diplomats<\/a> in an apparent hit piece.<\/p>\n In the article by Jerry Dunleavy, chief investigative correspondent for JusttheNews.com<\/a>, Mamdani is called out for posting the same photo of Juelz Santana<\/a> in an American flag outfit from the “Dipset Anthem” music video<\/a> on Independence Day, with the caption, “Happy 4th,” in three of the last five years.<\/p>\n COMPLEX SHOP:<\/b> Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n The piece describes Dipset as a “controversial rap group” who “were famous \u2014 and infamous \u2014 for some of their pro-terrorism-tinged lyrics.”<\/p>\n The claim stems from Dipset’s obsession with 9\/11, especially on their debut album Diplomatic Immunity<\/em>, less than two years after the events of Sept. 11, 2001. In addition to their lyrics, the crew also referred to themselves as “the Dipset Taliban” and “Harlem’s Al Qaeda.”<\/p>\n This fixation was revisited on social media<\/a> just last year.<\/p>\n Despite the article’s best efforts to paint Mamdani in a negative light because of his fandom of Juelz and Dipset, people seemed to elicit the opposite effect.<\/p>\n Back in July, Zohran Mamdani linked with Wu-Tang Clan<\/a>, Run The Jewels<\/a>, and the LOX<\/a> for the final Wu-Tang NYC show at Madison Square Garden<\/a>.\u00a0 A month prior to that, 50 Cent offered Mamdani $258,750 to leave NYC. “Where did he come from \ud83d\udc40 whose friend is this?
