Charlie Sheen<\/strong> infamously spiraled out of control while starring on Two and a Half Men \u2014 and according to his costar Jon Cryer<\/strong>, the network continued shelling out big bucks to keep their lead actor.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s in the midst of falling apart in every way I can imagine and he\u2019s renegotiating his contract for another year of a show I am supposed to be on too,\u201d Cryer, 60, said during the new documentary aka Charlie Sheen<\/a>. \u201cApparently they had pre-sold a couple of extra seasons of the show. It was worth their while to spend this astonishing amount of money on Charlie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cryer \u2014 who portrayed Alan Harper, the brother of Sheen\u2019s Charlie Harper \u2014 revealed that, despite his life being \u201cpretty good at that time,\u201d he was only being paid \u201ca third\u201d of what Sheen was getting.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Kim Jong Il<\/strong>] acted crazy all the time and thus got enormous amounts of aid from countries who were so scared of him that they would shovel money at him. That is what happened here,\u201d Cryer added. \u201c[Charlie\u2019s] negotiations went off the charts because his life was falling apart.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the show\u2019s peak, Sheen, 60, was racking in a staggering $2 million per episode, despite his well-documented substance abuse issues. Following the show\u2019s eighth season, Sheen was killed off and replaced by Ashton Kutcher<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had some trepidation about participating in this,\u201d Cryer admitted of the documentary, which premiered on Netflix on September 10. \u201cPartially because part of the cycle of Charlie\u2019s life has been that he messes up terribly, he hits rock bottom and then he gets things going again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
