Mariah Carey will perform in the Amazon Rainforest next week when she headlines Amaz\u00f4nia Live \u2013 Today and Always on Wednesday 17th September.<\/p>\n
The superstar will be performing on a floating stage on the Guam\u00e1 River in Bel\u00e9m, Brazil. Performing with the stunning backdrop of sunset in the Amazon Rainforest, the stage design will be inspired by the Victoria Amazonica \u2013 the region\u2019s symbolic plant.<\/p>\n
The aim of this special concert, which will also feature opening artists all showcasing the local culture of\u00a0Par\u00e1\u00a0(Dona Onete, Joelma, Gaby Amarantos,\u00a0and\u00a0Zaynara), is to raise awareness around protecting the natural world and rainforest itself \u2013 with Belem itself set to be the host city of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (Conference Of The Parties) \u2013 otherwise known as COP30. <\/p>\n
With the conference taking place in November,\u00a0Amaz\u00f4nia Live \u2013 Today and Always\u00a0with Carey spotlights the need to keep the forest standing by protecting its indigenous peoples, encouraging the bioeconomy, restoring degraded lands, and reforesting \u2013 thus contributing to the global challenge of reducing carbon emissions.<\/p>\n
Amaz\u00f4nia Live \u2013 Today and Always\u00a0will be turned into a TV special set to be broadcast nationwide in Brazil. Organised by the team at Rock World (the iconic team behind events such as Rock In Rio and The Town), it marks an event like no other \u2013 coming together for an incredible cause with a message and a movement aimed at preserving the planet for generations to come.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In addition to showing the world powerful images of the forest,\u00a0Amaz\u00f4nia Live \u2013 Today and Always\u00a0also seeks to create local impact. To mobilise the population of Par\u00e1 and raise a collective cry in defence of the forest, the city\u2019s football stadium, Mangueir\u00e3o, will host one of Brazil\u2019s greatest artists. On\u00a020th September, Ivete Sangalo\u00a0will perform for 46,000 people in a completely free concert \u2014 with both ticket batches selling out within just a few hours.<\/p>\n
That same day, the stage will also welcome\u00a0Viviane Batid\u00e3o, known as the queen of\u00a0tecnomelody\u00a0\u2014 a genre hugely popular in Par\u00e1 \u2014 as well as the\u00a0Lambateria Baile Show, featuring\u00a0Lia Sophia, referencing\u00a0guitarrada\u00a0and\u00a0carimb\u00f3, also hallmarks of local culture.<\/p>\n
All the behind-the-scenes of\u00a0Amaz\u00f4nia Live \u2013 Today and Always\u00a0are being documented and will result in a film about the project, preserving the most iconic moments of these historic shows in the region.<\/p>\n
