Despite her success as both a chart-topping singer and <\/span>award-winning actor<\/span><\/a>, Jennifer Lopez<\/span> had never actually merged the two together and appeared in a big-screen musical until she landed her upcoming role in the new film Kiss Of The Spider Woman.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, she\u2019s revealed that wasn\u2019t for lack of trying.<\/span><\/p>\n

J-Lo has previously spoken out about how she has tried out for roles in various musical films over the years, and during a recent Q&A after a screening of her film, she reflected on her audition for the 1996 movie adaptation of Evita<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI went in to audition for Evita, for Alan Parker,\u201d she recalled, referring to the late six-time Oscar nominee who helmed the film. \u201cI had been practising for weeks, and I sang my heart out. And he goes, \u2018you\u2019re amazing\u2019.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, his feedback didn\u2019t end there, as he then told her: \u201cYou know Madonna has the part, right?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018OK, bye bye. Nice to meet you\u2019,\u201d Jen then concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, it was J-Lo\u2019s fellow pop icon Madonna<\/span> who played Eva Per\u00f3n in the film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber, earning the Like A Prayer singer her first Golden Globe<\/span> win.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Jennifer also revealed how she tried out for a part in the film version of Chicago, as well as \u201c<\/span>getting very close\u201d to being cast in Nine.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere were a lot of things that I had always hoped that I could do and just wasn\u2019t the right time. But this is the right thing,\u201d she said<\/a>, referring to her role in Kiss Of The Spider Woman.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kiss Of The Spider Woman was directed by Bill Condon, who has previously helmed Dreamgirls and Disney\u2019s live-action remake of Beauty And The Beast, as well as co-writing the film versions of Chicago and The Greatest Showman.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new movie sees J-Lo playing fictional screen diva Ingrid Luna opposite <\/span>Tonatiuh and Diego Luna.<\/span><\/p>\n
