Call the Midwife<\/em><\/a>\u2018s 2025 Christmas specials are just a little over three months away, and to whet fans\u2019 appetites, the cast and creator of the hit PBS period drama have been sharing teases of what\u2019s to come.<\/p>\n Speaking with RadioTimes.com<\/em><\/a> at Britain\u2019s National Television Awards 2025 on Wednesday (September 10), where Call the Midwife<\/em> won the award for Best Returning Drama, the show\u2019s creator Heidi Thomas<\/a>, and cast members Stephen McGann<\/a> and Laura Main<\/a>, promised \u201claughs, \u201cdrama,\u201d and \u201ccompletely new territory\u201d in the upcoming specials.<\/p>\n McGann, who plays Dr. Patrick Drama on the popular British drama series, teased that \u201cthere will be heat,\u201d while Thomas noted, \u201cThere will be snow and sweat in equal measure.\u201d<\/p>\n As previously reported, the upcoming Christmas specials will be set in both Poplar and Hong Kong.<\/p>\n Main, who portrays Shelagh Turner, noted that the specials go to \u201ccompletely new territory\u201d, not just \u201cgeographically\u201d but also \u201cwhat happens in Poplar\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s absolutely new ground,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Thomas shared that there is a lot of \u201cnostalgia\u201d for British 1970s Christmases in the specials but also a celebration of diversity.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is full of nostalgia for those 1970s Christmases, but it has got a lovely, diverse ring to it,\u201d she explained. \u201cLiterally, we also cover Hanukkah, we celebrate the Jewish feast of lights, and there\u2019s the whole Chinese, Hong Kong dimension. So it feels very, very rich.\u201d<\/p>\n McGann, who previously told the Radio Times<\/em><\/a> that fans will witness a lot of \u201cchange\u201d in Season 15 and that one of the scripts left the cast \u201creeling,\u201d promised that there are still laughs to be had among the drama.<\/p>\n \u201c[There is] one Christmas special that really makes me laugh,\u201d McGann shared. \u201cThere are bits of the Christmas special \u2013 there\u2019s real drama, as always \u2013 but there\u2019s also a wonderful thing that happens, which I\u2019m not going to tell you, but actually they are brilliant.\u201d<\/p>\n
