Tim Allen<\/a>\u2018s ABC sitcom, Shifting Gears<\/em><\/a>, is no stranger to bringing aboard big-time guest stars, and there is one star in particular that showrunner Michelle Nader has her eyes on.<\/p>\n Speaking with Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> at the ABC Summer Soir\u00e9e on September 5, Nader revealed that there are a \u201ccouple of people\u201d who have been in touch to say they want to join the show. \u201cI can\u2019t say who and we\u2019re thinking of how to get the right role,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n However, Nader also admitted to having her own list of \u201cpeople that we want to see\u201d make a cameo on the sitcom. And the name at the top of that list? A popular Emmy-winning White Lotus<\/em> star.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to get Jennifer Coolidge<\/a> in the show,\u201d Nader told the outlet. \u201cI want to get some of those people to come around. We have a lot up our sleeve.\u201d<\/p>\n Shifting Gears<\/em>\u00a0premiered on January 8, 2025, and centers on Allen\u2019s Matt, a widower who runs an auto restoration shop with his estranged daughter, Riley (Kat Dennings<\/a>). Jenna Elfman<\/a> plays Riley\u2019s boss and Matt\u2019s love interest, Eve, while\u00a0Seann William Scott<\/a>\u00a0plays Riley\u2019s on\/off boyfriend, Gabriel.<\/p>\n Coolidge previously starred alongside Dennings on the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls<\/em><\/a>, playing Zofia \u201cSophie\u201d Kaczy\u0144ski, a buxom middle-aged Polish woman who lives in the apartment above the girls.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, ahead of the Shifting Gears<\/em> Season 1 finale on March 19, Dennings told People<\/em><\/a> she is long overdue for a catch-up with Coolidge but was struggling to get a hold of her after all her White Lotus<\/em> success.<\/p>\n \u201cOh my God, I\u2019ve tried to get back in touch with her, but I think she\u2019s too busy to talk to me right now,\u201d Dennings joked. \u201cI\u2019m just kidding. But I have reached out just to tell her how amazing she is and I didn\u2019t really ask any questions, so maybe that\u2019s why she didn\u2019t answer?\u201d<\/p>\n Despite not getting to catch up, Dennings said of her former co-star, \u201cI think she\u2019s just an iconic person and actress and I\u2019m so excited that she\u2019s had this renaissance. She really deserves it.\u201d<\/p>\n The first season of Shifting Gears<\/em> featured cameos from Running Point<\/em><\/a> star Brenda Song<\/a>, Almost Perfect<\/em> alum Nancy Travis<\/a>, and former Tonight Show<\/em><\/a> host Jay Leno<\/a>.<\/p>\n As previously reported by Deadline<\/em><\/a>, Season 2, which premieres on October 1, will feature a Home Improvement<\/em><\/a> reunion, with guest appearances from Allen\u2019s former co-stars Patricia Richardson<\/a>, Richard Karn<\/a>, and Debbe Dunning<\/a>.<\/p>\n
