In a shocking coincidence, far-right influencer Charlie Kirk was shot and killed while speaking<\/a> at Utah Valley University, only two days after Jezebel<\/a> posted a piece revealing they paid Etsy witches to \u201ccurse\u201d him.<\/p>\n The piece was written amid a growing trend of people paying witches on craft marketplace Etsy. \u201cSpells\u201d range from making people fall in love with you to the author\u2019s favorite, which is to make the intended person \u201c s**ttheir pants.\u201d The anonymous author decided it was best to purchase multiple spells, settling on \u201cMake Everyone Hate Him\u201d and\u00a0\u201cPowerful Hex Spell.\u201d Both were purchased in August, approximately two weeks before Kirk\u2019s fatal shooting. Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n According to Jezebel, the motive for placing the curses was over Kirk\u2019s many views on women. \u201cA cornerstone of Kirk\u2019s nightmare ideology is his insistence that, since gaining more independence, Western women are more miserable than ever,\u201d the article reads. \u201cHe tells auditoriums full of young women that our freedom is a flaw, not an achievement. He\u2019s obsessed with declining birth rates and idealizes the 1950s, when women\u2019s only \u2018job\u2019 was tending to children and husbands. If we all abandoned our careers and returned to motherhood, we\u2019d be happier, according to Kirk. Indeed, he fails to realize that I would be happiest if he would just shut up.\u201d<\/p>\n While there\u2019s of course no proof the Etsy witches were responsible for his demise, the coincidence had the Internet abuzz.<\/p>\n In the aformentioned editor\u2019s note published in the wake of the shooting, Jezebel<\/em> wrote, \u201cThis story was published on September 8.
