The trailer for Abbott Elementary<\/em> Season Five, premiering exclusively on Rolling Stone<\/em>, opens with Chingy\u2019s \u201cRight Thurr<\/a>\u201d \u2014 the perfect, high energy soundtrack for the beloved sitcom\u2019s return slated for Oct. 1 via ABC.<\/p>\n The clip begins with Quinta Brunson\u2019s character Ms. Teagues, declaring, \u201cWelcome back!\u201d and soon devolves into teachers wearing giant red caps, misbehaving students (and teachers), crashing ceilings, bicycle accidents, and a \u201cnew school year\u201d with \u201cnew challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cMs. Teagues will now have 40 students,\u201d announces Janelle James in her role as Principal Coleman. \u201cAnd I, for one, am excited to see if it will break her.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt won\u2019t,\u201d Ms. Teagues responds, before whispering: \u201cIt might.\u201d<\/p>\n Abbott Elementary <\/em>was renewed for a fifth season in January 2025. One episode<\/a> was filmed at a Philadelphia Phillies game featuring the entire cast, though it\u2019s unclear which episode it will be. The next installation will also include special Halloween and Christmas episodes.<\/p>\n For Season Five, Abbott Elementary<\/em> will air on ABC at 8:30 p.m. ET\/PT on Wednesdays, in between Shifting Gears<\/em> and The Golden Bachelor<\/em>. Each episode will be available on Hulu on Thursdays after its initial airing.<\/p>\n The series is nominated for several Emmys this year, including Outstanding Comedy Series, which they last won in 2022. Brunson<\/a> is up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and for Outstanding Writing for the episode \u201cBack to School.\u201d (She took home the acting trophy in 2023.) Meanwhile, both Sheryl Lee Ralph and Janelle James are nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Ralph won the award in 2022.<\/p>\n \u201cAbbott<\/em>\u00a0gets to feel like this bubble where my crew and I have this oasis where we get to create, and it makes us feel like kids again,\u201d the showrunner and creator Brunson told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> last year. \u201cThat\u2019s the feeling I always want to have when I\u2019m creating, whether anyone sees it or not \u2026 But what\u2019s great about zeroing in is that I\u2019m just focused on wanting to make something that I can be proud of.
