SANTA FE, N.M.<\/a>\u00a0(KRQE) \u2013\u00a0The action-packed thriller \u201cCoppers,\u201d filmed in its entirety in the Land of Enchantment, wrapped filming in Socorro in July.<\/p>\n

The high-stakes, modern-day Western, thanks to a talented local cast and crew, made a unique voice from the backdrop of New Mexico. \u201cNew Mexico is the perfect backdrop for a modern-day southwest action caper,\u201d Jim Burleson, co-director and producer of the film, stated. \u201cFilm Noir amidst the tumbleweeds and windstorms of spring in New Mexico is a character all its own.\u201d<\/p>\n

The production employed about 30 crew members from New Mexico, along with 18 local principal actors and 25 background talent, generating a significant economic impact in the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis production required a deeply talented crew and cast, which our state\u2019s film professionals delivered,\u201d director of the New Mexico Film Office, Steve Graham, said.\u00a0 \u201cThe significant number of New Mexico residents, including our local principal actors, who contributed to this project is a powerful testament to our vibrant talent base.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCoppers\u201d was directed by Dameon Clark (\u201cDragonball Z\u201d) and co-directed by Burleson (\u201cDead Man\u2019s Hand\u201d), who both produced the film. The film stars Sean Patrick Flanery (\u201cBoondock Saints\u201d), Academy Award-winning actor Eric Roberts, Noel G (\u201cFast and the Furious\u201d), and local talent Steven Michael Quezada (\u201cBreaking Bad\u201d), Julian Cavett (\u201cWanted Man\u201d), and Ava Del Cielo (\u201cWhiskey Tango Foxtrot\u201d).<\/p>\n

The film revolves around two Albuquerque police officers who discover millions of dollars that have been stolen by a cartel accountant in\u00a0a frantic attempt\u00a0to rescue his family,\u00a0who have been abducted. The revelation throws them into a lethal cross-border standoff with corrupt officials, American mobsters, and cartel killers\u2014all in a ghost town that is concealing a chemical weapons stash. To save the hostages, avert a disaster, and return home alive, the officers must outsmart vicious foes and endure a night of treachery and brutality as the body count mounts and allegiances become hazy.<\/p>\n
