On March 19, 2014, the Orpheum Theatre Group (then Memphis Development Foundation) broke ground on what would become the <\/span>Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education<\/b> (named after former Orpheum president Pat Halloran). This space \u2013 meant to house the Orpheum\u2019s growing education programs \u2013 opened to the public for a free community day on Saturday, September 15, 2015. And now, 10 years later, a three-day celebration will commemorate the magic of a decade.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The festivities begin with a special one night-only concert on Saturday, September 13 starring alumni of the Orpheum\u2019s education and community engagement programs. <\/span>Bluff City to Broadway and Beyond <\/span><\/i>will feature a retrospective of the success and impact of the decade with an evening of incredible performances. Performers include <\/span>Ethan Hardy Benson<\/b> (<\/span>Jesus Christ Superstar<\/span><\/i> National Tour, <\/span>Rolling Thunder <\/span><\/i>off-Broadway), <\/span>Raneem Imam<\/b> (Memphis-based singer songwriter, <\/span>Peace of Mind, Raneem & Better in Color<\/span><\/i>), <\/span>Melissa VanPelt<\/b> (<\/span>Hairspray <\/span><\/i>Broadway + National Tour, <\/span>Superfreak: The Rick James Story<\/span><\/i>), and <\/span>Riley Thad Young <\/b>(<\/span>Harry Potter and the Cursed Child<\/span><\/i> on Broadway). VIP ticket includes premium seating and access to a post-performance reception that features a champagne toast, celebratory birthday cake, and a meet and greet photo opportunity with the stars of the show!<\/span><\/p>\n On Sunday September 14, the Halloran Centre will be abuzz with activity from 1-5pm with a FREE community day open to all ages. There will be food trucks on the Halloran Centre Plaza and performances in the theatre by Opera Memphis, Cazateatro Bilingual Theatre Group, Ann C. Perry, Princeton James Productions, Memphis Jookin, and Cequita Monique.\u00a0 Workshops will be led throughout the day by Orpheum Teaching Artists in poetry singing, acting, songwriting, and West African Drumming.
