Jennifer Lopez has had a long film career, but there\u2019s one type of movie she says she hasn\u2019t yet gotten to lead \u2014 until now.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While at an interview<\/a> for her new movie musical \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman\u201d on Wednesday, Jenny from the Block was asked whether she\u2019s ever been \u201cclose\u201d to starring in a musical, given her career as a singer.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cYou know, I have never been offered a musical, which is crazy,\u201d Lopez revealed. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The \u201cI\u2019m Real\u201d singer went on to recall a time that she auditioned for film director Alan Parker for a role in the musical film \u201cEvita.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been practicing for weeks, and sing my heart out, and did my thing,\u201d Lopez said. \u201cAnd he goes, \u2018You\u2019re amazing. You know Madonna has the part, right?\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI said, \u2018OK, bye-bye. Nice to meet you!\u2019\u201d she said with a laugh.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThis is a first time, and it couldn\u2019t have been a better one for me, I don\u2019t think,\u201d she said of the timing on her part in the film, which comes out on Oct. 10. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI was really glad to do it, [to] step into Chita Rivera\u2019s shoes\u2026 and everyone who did this role before me,\u201d she added, referring to the the star of the 1993 Broadway adaptation of \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Later on in the interview, Lopez described the role as \u201cliving her childhood dreams.\u201d The film received standing ovations<\/a> after it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, and early reviews said Lopez \u201cdazzled<\/a>\u201d and that it was \u201cthe role she was born to play<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
