An El Pasoan is shining on the big screen after landing a role in a film starring some notable actors, including “Captain America” star Chris Evans and Margaret Qualley, who most recently appeared in “The Substance.”<\/p>\n
Burges High School alum Audrina Rosales was cast in the dark comedy “Honey, Don’t!,” released in theaters Aug. 22. The movie, filmed in nearby Albuquerque and Belen,<\/a> follows small-town private investigator Honey O’Donahue (Qualley), who delves into a series of strange deaths tied to a mysterious church, according to IMDB.<\/a><\/p>\n Rosales can be spotted about halfway through the movie as “Wiener Girl.”<\/p>\n Burges High School alum Audrina Rosales (right) was cast as “Wiener Girl” in the dark comedy “Honey, Don’t!” which released in theaters Aug. 22.<\/p>\n “It was high pressure because it was a big project,” Rosales said. “I just kept reminding myself that I have experience and I’ve acted before.”<\/p>\n Rosales’ passion for acting began as a young girl and blossomed while she worked on local films before signing with a talent agency. She auditioned online from her El Paso home for the role of “Weiner Girl” and shortly after found herself on the road to Albuquerque in April 2024 to work alongside award-winning writer and director Ethan Cohen.<\/p>\n Cohen has filmed in New Mexico before, including projects made with brother Joel Coen, such as\u00a0“No Country for Old Men,”\u00a0and parts of the 2010 film\u00a0“True Grit,” according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.<\/a><\/p>\n “I actually got a trailer, which was exciting,” Rosales said. “I was there (on set) a good nine hours, and it was really fun.”<\/p>\n Burges High School alum Audrina Rosales was cast as “Wiener Girl” in the dark comedy “Honey, Don’t!,” which released in theaters Aug. 22. Courtesy of Audrina Rosales<\/p>\n According to the New Mexico Film Office, the production for “Honey Don’t!” employed more than 600 New Mexicans, including 150 crew members, 15 principal actors, and 450 background talent.<\/p>\n Rosales recounted practicing her part with Cohen a few times before shooting the scene, which was filmed at an actual restaurant in Albuquerque transformed into a fictional eatery called Wiener Heaven.<\/p>\n “I was nervous, but I remembered to be as natural and grounded in the scene as possible,” Rosales said. “For those minutes, I was ‘Wiener Girl’ and I’m just working at the restaurant.”<\/p>\n While her role in the movie is brief, Rosales said she’ll cherish the experience for a lifetime as she continues to chase her acting aspirations.<\/p>\n “We’re right next to New Mexico and they have a lot of opportunities, plus Texas is growing in the film industry as well,” Rosales said. “You don’t need to be in Los Angeles or New York anymore.
